The key benchmark indices were trading firm in the afternoon deals today. The Sensex was up 127 points at 17,258 levels and the Nifty gained 37 points to trade at 5,128.
Oil & gas, metals and auto stocks led the gains today. The BSE oil & gas index rose 1.6 per cent and the metal index was up 1.2 per cent. Realty stocks, however, were under pressure. The realty index on the BSE fell 1.4 per cent. Among the Sensex stocks, ITC, RIL and ACC were the biggest gainers. The stocks jumped over 1.7 per cent each.
